HOLY SH*T SNAKCS! Warren Ellis is returning to DC Comics to relaunch WILDSTORM Comics! WILDSTORM will be an imprint similar to DC’s deal with Gerard Way for Young Animal. Warren Ellis will be writing The Wild Storm, an on-going monthly comic, by Ellis and Clean Room artist Jon-Davis Hunt which comes out February with rebooted versions of Grifter, Voodoo, the Engineer, Jenny Sparks and more. Also Warren Ellis will oversee other titles: WildC.A.T.S., Zealot, and Michael Cray (Deathblow).
Robert’s Rant: Warren Ellis coming back to WILDSTORM is HUGE News! I loved his run on Planetary, it’s one of my all time favorite comic book series. Also Warren’s run on The Authority set the bar for making the cape comic books more adult. I can’t wait to see what he does, even if it’s what he always does with his characters but it does it so well. Warren Ellis is one of the greats out there and often he fits a series (his own or others) and knocks it out of the park, reminding you why he’s one of the great. That said, Warren Ellis can also be repetitive to the point that many of his books feel the same – I hope that’s NOT the case here.
Quote from Warren Ellis on the new WILDSTORM imprint:
“After long reflection, I couldn’t turn down the invitation to renovate the house that Jim Lee built, and refit its unique combination of cosmic paranoia and paramilitary conspiracy for the post-political space madness of the twenty-teens,” said Warren Ellis, whose last work for the publisher was 2010’s Planetary #27. “Looking back to look forward.”
Here are some of the new versions of Grifter & the Engineer…
