“F-ck DC Comics!” Robert Downey Jr says

Okay so since I recently put up my email address, I get a TON of spam and flame emails. One of which recently irked me saying that my site is nothing but a MashUp of current news items and nothing more. I do not rant and rave for pages and pages about things with my own perspective/taste and then offer the news. Well… RIGHT! That is what I do here , bite-sized news bits with my own Canadian two bits (about .50 cents after exchange) thrown in plus the occasional reviews, youtube vids and rants. I have been doing this for a while now when all blogs were just pages and pages of shit and then a link. If you do not like it then piss off! I ain’t forcing this site down anyone’s throat, come and take what you wish from it. Feel free to comment on what you wish, I don’t nuke the comments other than the endless spam ones.

Right. I needed to get that off my chest, now since I do not want to do a ‘MashUp’ of news, I will offer this animated graphic of a recent interview with Robert Downey Jr. about The Dark Knight movie which I found on blog@newsarama.com via MovieHole all which can be found here:

RANT: Have comic movies jumped the Shark?

RANT: Have comic movies jumped the Shark?
Yes that is from the Watchmen set that we found…

So I was out with William S. and we rambled comic book movies (of course) and I mentioned how Kevin Smith mentioned at the EW Visionaries panel @ SDCC that, “Now that the Watchmen movie is done, I can watch it and then just die!” so I ask…

After the Watchmen movie will comic book movies have then jumped the shark? Does it matter if Iron Man II is good? The Hulk 3 decent? An Avengers movie (I mean the Marvel Avengers, not the Brit telly show) , Justice League movie? Or the next Batman movie?

For the Love of Comics has a great article about news about The Dark Knight and the next Batman movie here:
http://www.fortheloveofcomics.com/2008/08/01/for-the-love-of-quickies-obsessed-with-batman-edition/

Maybe they could make a better movie and actually HAVE Batman in the movie and not just a supporting character like in Dark Knight. Seems that the rumors are hot and heavy with who is going to be in the next Bat movie, more here from blog@newsarama.com with some thoughts like maybe Black Mask or Hugo Strange:
http://blog.newsarama.com/2008/08/06/wholl-face-batman-in-next-film-eh/

My vote for the next Bat movie is to have BATMAN in the movie like he was in the first movie please! Oh and if they do Black Mask, they need to hear William’s version!

Stan Winston died late last night R. I. P.

A great special effects person who is now gone, I wonder how movies will look for the next while without his vision! More…

Tony Stark in The Incredible Hulk TV Ad!

[flash http://www.youtube.com/v/JOteAzR4of0&hl=en w=400 h=324]
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JOteAzR4of0

So looks like Marvel wants to cash in on the fame of Iron Man and have now leaked some of the scenes with Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) in a new TV Ad for The Incredible Hulk movie that opens this Friday! I just wish they didn’t show this and left it as a great small scene in the movie. Lame.

“Iron Man is so good, it should be illegal!” – RjP

Iron Man is so good, it should be illegal!

So I went to see Iron Man before I became a gimp this weekend and I loved it. As many have said, “best comic book to movie” that Marvel Comics has done since the Spider-Man movie. Robert Downey Jr. was Tony Stark / Iron Man to a tee. Sure he is not the current Tony Stark but neither was Tobey Maguire the current Peter Parker / Spider-Man but a good one none the less. If you have the money and time, go check it out as you will not be disappointed. Jon Favreau and the entire cast did a great job in this movie!

I am glad to hear that the studio is already talking about a sequel and the big surprise extra after the credits (hi-lite for spoilers) Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury talking The Avengers Initiative just fueled and will spark more conversations for the next while which is just perfect. I think that Iron Man will hold strong against the big summer blockbusters including The Dark Knight and the newest Indy movie.

Zen Lego Iron Man even loved the movie!

Hey don’t just take my two bits on the film, it looks like even Zen Lego Iron Man enjoyed it. Panels of Awesome also did a great review (more in-depth than mine) here:
http://www.panelsofawesome.com/2008/05/03/poa-at-the-movies-iron-man-review/

Also big news that hit the ‘net today is that the extra special scene after the credits was written by Brian Bendis, you can read more about it here on Rich Johnston’s Lying in the Gutters on CBR:
http://comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=16292

Oh and did anyone catch that the “hot rod” that Stark was working on looked so much like Johnny Storm (the Human Torch from The Fantastic Four) old Hot Rod he had way back when in the comics?  Snagged from the Marvel Directory on Human Torch / Johnny Storm (http://www.marveldirectory.com/individuals/h/humantorchii.htm):

Storm developed an interest in automobiles at an early age. Storm passed much of his leisure time in the company of automobile mechanics and enthusiasts, and learned to totally overhaul a car’s transmission before he was fifteen years old. For his sixteenth birthday, his father bought him his first “hot rod.”
