Rich Johnston from todays CBRs Lying In The Gutters wrote the following:

BIN DIVING

Want a Marvel TPB or Hardcover this Christmas? Why not check the remainder bins at your local chain bookstore? Will we experience the Harry Potter phenomenon ever again?

July 24th, 2007 rjp Posted in Books 1 Comment »

For the all of two people who read this blog and have not read Harry Potter & The Deathy Hallows - do not worry - no spoilers are here. Now I am not trying to sound crass or such but I do have to ask, “Will we experience anything like this again for a book?”. The mass movies, marketing and such for a book that both children and adults were obsessing about? Waiting for in baited breath? Parents and kids dressed up as their favorite characters just to go in a line-up and get the latest / last book? All this interest in a… book. It is an amazing event. I do hope it happens again in my life time.

Will we experience Harry Potter phenomenon again?

I really do not know but I will say that after reading the book, I am very satisfied with it. It made me laugh, made me cry and made me shout at it. Of course their are parts of the book that thought could have been either cut down or revised but hey - no body is perfect - no one. Go write something and see what someone else thinks. Someone you don’t know. No one save your parents would think its perfect.

No. It was a nice final book which made me feel apart of its world, its characters and its emotions - what more could I ask for? Thank you J. K. Rowling.

To my friend best mate William regarding the conversation we had while standing in line on Friday night, “No she did not stick to her guns in the end but I liked that. I enjoyed the ending.”

Well it is official, the last and final book is coming out on July 21, 2007. I am betting Harry gets laid in the new book because it would be sh**ty for Harry Potter to Die before he got laid!

Currently reading: Helltown by Dennis O’Neil

January 30th, 2007 rjp Posted in Books, Comic Books No Comments »

Helltown by Dennis O'NeilDear William S. gave me a lovely book to read. One that I will need to go and pickup to keep. It is entitled Helltown by Dennis O’Neil, one of my all time favorite comic book writers, and it is pretty much the entire story of The Question. So in the wake of this characters current death in the DCU, I am enjoying this book very much. You can get it here on Amazon if you wish or pick it up at your local bookstore / comic book store.
