Commonly I do not post about anything outside comics, movies, TV and other such related geek. I am changing all that today with a post about a sport I very much enjoy. On Sunday morning, Bob Ackles passed away from a sudden heart attack. He was 69. Bob Ackles was the president of the British Columbia Lions, a team in the Canadian Football League. My home team and when I heard the news this morning (I missed it yesterday), I was just remembering all the fun I ever had with my friends from high school and how much of our great times involved the BC Lions in some way. Flash forward to today and I now have season tickets to the BC Lions and go with good friends from high school to the games. I often have another ticket to bring along other friends and family as well but the binding part of the games is the tie to my high school friends.

I won’t go on further other than to say my condolences to the Ackles family at this time and that hearing about times like these it makes me cherish family and friends even more so.

Well the boys did it, they won Gold! Congrats to Team Canada at the World Jr’s Hockey Championship. You deserve it!

Okay I heard of this a while ago but I never believed that it would be an issue but it seems that the Canucks themselves today were wearing “Vote for Rory” t-shirts. Check it out, Rory Fitzpatrick a Vancouver Canuck defenceman now has around 30 thousand votes for the NHL All-Star game. Go vote! Send Rory to the NHL All-Star game, why not, its grassroots!

Yes people, they did it - they won the Grey Cup last Sunday and I have been so happy I forgot to mention it here. I unfortunately could not make it to the celebrations downtown on Tuesday afternoon but I was there in spirit. I watched the game at MG’s place and had a blast with good fun and a good game! So proud of our BC Lions this year! Congrats boys - you made coming out the games well worth it!
