X-Force Lost Boys Ad

Necrosha - X-Force Lost Boys inspiried ad

** Updated: Link to Necrosha interview at the bottom of the post.

I am so LOVING this X-Force Lost Boys inspired ad for the upcoming Necrosha cross-over storyline! It is great how the team (Warpath, Archangel, X-23, Elixir, Wolverine, Wolfsbane, Domino, Vanisher — in the order of the poster, right to left to back) is laid out to match the original Lost Boys poster art.

This is a great ad for the upcoming NECROSHA storyline which pits X-Force and some of the X-Books against Selene and her new horde of baddies that include Cameron Hodge, Bolivar Trask and Graydon Creed. I overheard that this is Marvel’s Blackest Night which ain’t really a correct assumption since this is not really good guys vs zombie good guys (YET) but that could be where they go if Selene decides to raise the dead of Genosha (which then makes sense for the title of the series being called Necrosha, I guess… hmm) other than raising the dead of Cypher (Douglas Ramsey) & Caliban who were once New Mutants and members of X-Force alike.

Okay so maybe this is slightly like the idea of raising the dead of Genosha for power BUT these are not (yet) revealed to be un-kill-able zombie mutants of all the dead former X-Families raised in order to scare and horrify their victims before taking their hearts as a power-up for their undead Master. Plus didn’t Marvel do the whole Marvel Zombies things FIRST which Blackest Night is a copy of so then this really ain’t a copy but it’s just putting zombies into the Marvel 616 Universe proper. Wait.. what? Fuck… am I interested in a series that involves fucking Zombies?!

FUCK! Hmm… I may need to reconsider buying these books. Might skip New Mutants as the artwork and story have been HORRIFIC to date. I was so excited for NM coming back but WOW did that turn out wrong, rushed and way off the mark for the book.

X-Necrosha One Shot

Anyways it all starts this week with X-Necrosha One Shot that comes out this week! Let me know what you think if you pick it up or if your excited to be getting this series / crossover.

Oh and I saw this ad in the issue of Thunderbolts I picked up this week.

Updated: I dug up this cool interview with Criag Kyle & Chris Yost about the upcoming Necrosha crossover here, check it out:

Yeah, X-Force has been a consistently entertaining book, cutting edge, really, compared to the other X-books out now.

I was excited when it first was announced and it hasn’t let me down in entertainment value at all.

New Mutants? Never was a fan. I liked them YEARS ago when they became X-Force under Liefeld and Nicieza, but that was it.

But, Robert, what’s NOT to like about zombies? Hehehe…

  2. Robert says:

FUCKING ZOMBIES. Gah. Hate’em, all that eating of guts and stuff plus they NEVER FLOSS! Fucking disgusting. :P

I agree that X-Force has been as you mentioned, an exciting book month after month.

I loved New Mutants like crazy, they were the Teen Titans of the Marvel World for me so I loved them no matter where they went, X-Force or X-Men — although someone needs to do a better job writing Sam Guthrie (Cannonball) these days as he’s coming off like a wannabe Cyclops. One fucking Cyclops is enough.

  3. Chris Hunter says:

Sam Guthrie has SOOOO much potential as a character to me!

He could really do his own thing with a writer that takes him seriously. I know that the same could probably be said of ANY character, but I think that this really can be said of Sam Guthrie.

Ever notice how Iceman seems to be the only person that doesn’t realize his potential – what he’s REALLY capable of? Everytime he’s possessed or control in any way, the character controlling him or possessing him always seems to know how to use his powers better then he does. Sad, really.

I think the same thing happens with Sam Guthrie most of the time.

  4. Robert says:

Yeah I know Sam is heading up the New Mutants title but perhaps they should write it so Cyclops takes Sam under his wing in X-Men and in New Mutants to be his up & coming protege — that might give him more of a role in the X-Books.

I couldn’t agree more with Iceman and very few writers have ever done anything solid or character development for poor Bobby. Nightcrawler & Colossus have had more character dev than one of the original X-Men. You’re right, sad. Very sad.

The New Mutants book should not be brooding or dark in any way — it SHOULD be the mirror image of X-Force but bright & hopeful. Sure you could have conflicts with characters but fuck the brooding dark shit. Perhaps New Mutants could be the book that also spotlights all the OTHER mutants living on X-Nation while still following the main core members? My two Canuck bits.

  5. [...] New Mutants and X-Men Legacy. I'm mentioning it here for two reasons: one, because I really dig the Lost Boys movie poster homage ad that Marvel's been running in some of their comics, and two, to prove I can make it through this [...]
