Dan Didio hard sell

Dan DidioSo I checked this out today on Newsarama, Dan Didio talks about things like Superman books, Final Crisis, Batman and such. Anything special or new? Not really but I am taken back a touch by the following statement:

And let me put aside any concerns people have about Final Crisis #7, this is and always has been Grant’s story, and any changes made along the way were discussed in advance as to work with the natural flow of the miniseries. The ending is Grant’s, pure and simple, and is the ending he envisioned from the start.

Does this mean that he is putting Grant Morrison under the bus so when FC comes out and its a massive flop, its all Grant Morrison? That crossed my mind and then I thought, naaaaaah, but then I kept reading about Grant Morrison on Batman and saw this…

12. Getting back into the Batman books – just so we have the lineup correct…Denny in December, Faces of Evil in January, and Neil Gaiman and Andy Kubert in February. Is Grant coming back to the main Batman book then?

DD: Grant has so many Batman stories to tell that we have to find an outlet for them, and I’m absolutely sure that we will find one for him.

Now I have to wonder Wha? I was at the Comic-Con Batman panel where Grant Morrison was going to be writing Batman forever. Yeah I don’t think so anymoe — I am betting my comic monies that once FC is over we the fans will be hearing about how Grant and DC have parted ways.

Anyways here is the full article:

It is interesting to hear how DC and Dan are planning / thinking about the upcoming Blackest Night event and how it will come out. Maybe the idea of all these fricken Bubble Comic Books that DC is running right now (Green Lanterns w/ the Red Lanterns, Titans w/ their crap, Teen Titans and their crap, Superman and the New Krypton stuff, Justice Society of America and Kingdom Come, Justice League and their adventures, Final Crisis and its crap, Batman RIP/Battle of the Cowl — all in their own bubble worlds) will end soon and we will finally see some continuity in the DCU and their books.

See you later blog@newsarama!

See you later blog@newsarama!

I just read this after seeing it on Twitter that the current crew of blog@newsarama are leaving at the end of November. I am really sorry & sad to hear this as it has been (even after the hideous website revision of Newsarama.com) the one place I went to on a daily basis for comic book news. Their blog made this site look pale in comparison as it was a great journalistic blog for the comic book industry and not someone’s chicken scratches in the dirt like BtS. They had great guest bloggers, fun articles and good tidbits of news and fun. I wish everyone the best and yes — See You Later!

Thanks again and I suggest everyone to head on over and have a read through the blog as it has been a great source of information for the comic book industry:

New Animated Terminator poster

The new Flash poster (which I dig!) for Terminator Salvation. The movie stars Batman… I mean Christian Bale as John Conner and seems kinda well… I don’t get it in connection with the TV Show or the other movies. Ah well. Hollyweird hey? Enjoy!

[I have removed the Flash poster as it was impacting the loading of the site, please go to the link below]

Batman’s dead baby, Batman’s dead!

Batman’s dead baby, Batman’s dead!

So do you care? Are you interested?

Me? Nope. I really don’t shive a git and I am a pretty big Grant Morrison fan but lately he’s been running pretty cold for me at DC. Now to hear that Tony Daniel, the artist during the Batman R.I.P. run will be writing and drawing the upcoming “Battle for the BatcaveTowel… I mean Cowl” has me even more meh towards the batbooks. I think maybe if I just give them all a year or so rest, I might feel better but that is too bad that DC is turning me away like that. Being a huge DC fan, I just cannot afford to buy their books and continue to be feeling let down or bored.

Next thing you know Warner Bros will be pimping out Heath Ledger for an Oscar for his sh**tty performance as the Red Hood in the last boring Batman movie.

Oh and previews here for the big finale where Batman is buried with his utility belt blah…

Best Bang Reborn #16

Best Bang Reborn #16

I know its been a few weeks since the last Best Bang Reborn so until my schedule changes, maybe that is how things will be. I am trying to do my best to keep the blog up with some news but given that I am growing bored of comics of late and my busy schedule what you see is currently what you get. Also given the fact I just bought Little Big Planet with my birthday monies likely will not help any future blogging. Best of the best (and there are few and far between for this) are Wet Moon Vol. 4 tpb, Thunderbolts and Ambush Bug: Year None & The Amazing Spider-Man.

This Best Bang of comics comes from both Elfsar Comics & Toys and Hourglass Comics & Toys with help from Chris Nolan’s Comic Books Beta and Scans Daily for the occasional larger panel images (although I do apologize for the lack of images this week!).

Lets get right down to it!

Boldly going where no Alias has gone before…

Are you ready for Sylar as Spock? A young punk J. T. Kirk? Nick Angel as Scotty and Ben Cross coming out from a rock to be a villain?

Well I am but at the same time I feel I need a great deal of salt to deal with how much they plan on changing EVERYTHING in the Star Trek world. Will it spin off new movies and shows? Hmm?

RANT: Getting Bored of Comics…

Secret Invasion sucks so bad, it makes the Sentry cry!

So just on Sunday I had the chance to get out and go to the Vancouver Comicon. I got a chance to see lots of people like Ed Brisson, letterer extraordinaire (yes, he lettered Abigail’s War for me but also runs his own publishing company New Reliable Press and is working on several new projects) plus I met Hartley at the con. William S. and I had a blast and got some good deals then we popped into Elfsar Comic & Toys where I got my comics for last week. I am still working through everything I got so Best Bang Reborn will be out on Weds morning, I am hoping (update: Friday if I am lucky). All this was good but it still reminded me that I am bored of comic books these days. Why? Well let me break it down for you and it is really rather simple.

Marvel Solits for Feb ‘09

Marvel Solits for Feb ‘09

From a new Black Panther #1 to more on the War of Kings storyline and the “Noir” books, here are the latest Marvel Solicitations for February 2009. Not any mention of the Dark Reign books which is a bit sad also no cover for the upcoming Agents of Atlas series. :(

DC Solits for Feb ‘09

DC Solits for Feb ‘09

Lots of this “Origins and Omens” theme that DC Comics are doing in February Solicitations of 2009. It is interesting to note that Final Crisis is not solicited and I wonder if this is due to what Rich Johnston said on CBR’s Lying in the Gutters article today that Dan Didio and Grant Morrison are butting heads re: the ending of FC and having the script reworked.

It is pretty depressing when I go through the DC Solits and there is NOTHING that jumps out at me. Nothing. *le sigh*
