Oh and there is this whole sing-a-long blog thing Joss Whedon is doing rather than making Angel a better comic book like his Buffy series and working on Wonder Woma… oh wait…well maybe his new tv show will be hitting the airwave… oh right…

Well then:

  1. Dr Horrible is freaking fantastic, especially as a tiny diversion thrown together during the writer’s strike without much in the way of budget, just a few good buddies teaming up to make something entertaining.

And Joss does have a new show hitting the airwaves, albeit not scheduled till January - FOX are so into it, they skipped making a pilot to get nicer sets in place, and are cutting 6 minutes of commercials (the same as Abrams’ Fringe) to make the show longer.

  2. I hear that Dollhouse, Whedon’s new TV show on FOX is not getting the rave reviews which is why it has been put on the mid-season replacement schedule and NOT coming out strong from the gate. Sure they want to make the show longer, they need to make it more appealing, anything to win over the early reviews which had this show dead before hitting the HD waves.

Now I know yer a Whedon fan, Zeek, A Brownjacket and all dat. I like his stuff, especially Angel and his writing on Astonishing X-Men and Buffy (I am trade waiting Runaways and not high on my life at that) and I love his Firefly series — it just bugs me that Whedon makes Buffy do so well and yet Angel the comic series sucks so bad that I, a long time Angel fan, am dropping the comic. That bugs the shit outta me and rather than hearing about some shit he did with actors who f***ked around during the writers strike, I want to hear that the Angel series is being revamped, retooled and Whedon is coming on to write a few issues then getting Ben Edlund to write a few with a strong new art team to kick off Angel.

I may really enjoy Dollhouse and I hope I do, I just ain’t excited about a sing-along-blog when Angel the comic sucks. Call me a comic book junkie but that’s me.

  3. You know I think the failing of the Angel book is the art.
The story is fine by me, but I have such a hard time getting into on account o that poop on paper they’re calling an artist!

Although Edlund would be a VERY welcome addition in my eyes!

I LOVED Dr Horrible, I really really did.
I even got misty eyed a number of times throughout it!

I’m likin what I’m seeing of the Terminator, but the Spirits really missing the ball so far for me.
As much as Miller and Eisner were great friends I really don’t think the legacy of the Spirit needed to be immortalized on the big screen as an issue of Sin City.
