Gah I hate Ellis! Astonishing X-Men #25 preview

Gah I hate Ellis! Astonishing X-Men #25 preview

I really do think Warren Ellis is a jerk for making me somewhat interested in his upcoming run on Astonishing X-Men! I have done so well, I wasn’t going to fall of the wagon and take a dose of his stuff. I was trying hard to keep clean after countless books and hours spent on his dope! Even this week, I managed not to take a shot of this NO HERO $1.00 book! I know he could care less about us pissants on the ‘net but still… F**k you, Ellis! F**K you hard with splintered wood!

The Astonishing X-Men #25 preview on CBR looks great (art by Simone Bianchi) and the dialog is pretty smart. GRRRR! I like how Hisako is the new “Kitty” for the X-team, I mean this was kinda obvious in Whedon’s run but even moreso now.

You only say these nasty things about Warren because you know deep down in the warm cockles of your heart he’s going to write that special sort of Cyclops that you’ve longed for since puberty. Then your perpetual man crush for one eye will be rekindled a new. All this post is, is you shaking your fist at the internet in faux anger as Warren leans in and gently blows over the embers reigniting your flame.

… yeah well that and I am passing along the preview of AMX #25.

I doubt One-Eye will ever become the character I could get a man crush on, now Hank for that matter is looking crushy for me. :P

So you’re saying you’re into intellectual leather fetish bears?

  4. rjp says:

Who sings to themselves rather than sleeping in… yeah. Fricken Ellis! :P

  5. Silenzio says:

Cyclops will be so jealous of your furry fetish. It’s quit possible Wolverine might get caught in the cross fire.

I don’t see the dialogue as being “pretty smart” at all. Other than the lone exception you’ve used, I’m actually surprised at how corny the first few pages sound. “There had better be coffee or I will simply believe there is no God”? “Stay here and attend your dying love”? “We’ll end up in Oakland, and then I’ll simply have to kill myself”? Bland, typical, and just plain corny.

I was hoping for a different reaction because I’ve heard such nice things about Ellis, but I can already tell that his style isn’t my personal taste. The art — especially the overly plump lips — is unappealing to me as well.
