I mentioned about the whole cross pollenization of the cross-overs a while ago. For Secret Invasion, you need to buy all this sub books plus the Avengers books. Lame. For Final Crisis - after taking some Key-23, you might get what WTF is going on and then you can read all the other books to figure it all out.

I agree and both of the big two have failed in their summer blockbuster events I think. Failed.

Also any note that like it seems that every week there is some bloody Avengers book coming out seems like?

I really wanted to like SI and FC but man does it seem disappointing.

I'll be buying all of the issues, but your point stands - the storylines going on in Mighty and New Avengers should really be in Secret Invasion. The only possible benefit to the consumer that I can see is not having to wait an entire month between updates to the story, but going twice or thrice-monthly is a better solution to that.

I'm... a bit ambivalent about Secret Invasion at this point. It's by no means horrible, but it's not really blowing me away, either.

You are so right about Annihilation. Those titles are an excellent example of where I was trying to go with my point. (And are they not just brilliant bits of writing?) Yes it can be argued that they're a run of 4 books not just one as CoIE and IG were, or Secret Wars was, but you can get away with ignoring the other books and just reading the main title. That isn't the case with SI and FC. I guess it was Civil War which brought this whole sad affair about. It acted more like a book ending title. You read an issue of CW and then read the other titles over the course of a month to see the rest of the picture. I hated it then and still find that I missed aspects of the over all story because of it.

Maybe this is just me ranting because I know that I'm not going to get the whole FC story line. Too many of the titles involved don't appeal to me and those that do... so expensive. But this isn't the place for a rant about value for my dollars.

Buy the Bob, How are you enjoying SI?

Ok, now I see what you're saying and yes, I agree.

It obviously CAN be done, since Annhilation and Annhilation: Conquest did a pretty good job of it.

I fully see your point Bob, but I'm talking just about the Secret Invasion Book. One should be able to just pick that mini up and read it all the way through with all the major Marvel families involved without having to purchase a zillion ancillary titles. Case in point the 3 issue FF mini. Why the f*** is that story line not part of the main title? Why must I pick up the three other Avengers titles to read the whole of the story?

I suppose I remember Crises on Infinite Earths and the Infinity gauntlet minis too fondly. They were closed stories, huge colossal stories to be sure, but closed. You could purchase and read then without having to buy half a companies product lines. You got snap shot looks at most of the major characters and their world with out having to take out a bank loan to do it. Now though... Final Crisis is 6 (?) minis and climbing. Invasion is 5 books and growing.

I fully see the marketing benefit, us sheep, zombie, completion obsessives will buy the books, but will the new readers?

I doubt it.
