Got that stuck in my head looking at that image.

Alright, let me take a bite into this one…

The Hulk movie poster goes out of its way to portray only Bruce Banner. Most posters feature this obnoxious minor glimpse into every big named actor cascading down on one side or with the main character in the middle and the others at her/his side. The Hulk seems to do this to emphasis the interniality of BB. Sure… fine… it works.

The silhouette of the Hulk is nice. It teases because you know what you’re seeing without really seeing it. The backdrop adjacent to the Hulk also asks questions rather than answers. The title is subdued, smaller and backlit. It’s not green and in your face like you might expect. As a complete picture it appears lonely and Norton’s gaze goes down, not challenging the viewer and internalizing things even more.

    What I like?

Not your typical Hollywood. Someone decided to take a risk with this poster. Yay is all I have to say about that.

No tagline. These are almost universally stupid so why bother?

    What don’t I like?

It’s not that it’s not “busy” enough, there is plenty going on there, but there’s a genuine lack of motion. This is an action movie (I’ve seen the trailers) so you’d expect it, so perhaps this is delivering a mixed message.

There is a substantial amount of negative space. I think I understand why it’s there, but that doesn’t mean I have to like it. It’s too barren, methinks.

No release date. When do I get to watch the big green dude destroy things until ultimately meeting up with something that may actually challenge him. Somewhere along the way an elf chick is going to traipse into the movie and probably create angst for our hero until she ultimately tames his unrelenting Hulk anger. Meanwhile again the army after launching a couple of missiles at it will continue to think they have a chance _this time_ of stopping the beast.

Of course we already know from that crappy television show from the 80’s that “Nothing can stop Hulk!”
