Between The Staples - Between The Staples by Robert J. Parizek and is just another comic book news blog with a hint of lemon from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

Should J’Onn J’Onzz be saved?

Should J’Onn J’Onzz be saved?

Not that I hate J’Onn J’Onzz / The Martian Manhunter at all, I just wonder if he should be saved or not. Like maybe its time to put down that oreo cookie and save the world… no the DC Universe and be known for that. I mean if he dies in this new day and age of comics – who’s to say he stays dead?

Does it matter if he or Aquaman die? Does it matter these days if any super-hero character dies?

Not really. Dead is dead rarely applies in comic books anymore. Thoughts?

Oh and Michael Netzer is trying to save J’Onn before Final Crisis every hits the stands here:

Does this do nothing more than fuel the fire?

  1. One way to look at this effort is to consider that for myself, at least, the comics are a vehicle for more expansive efforts made to help improve our collective condition as a civilization. So, if this effort provides a wider stage from which to concuct such pursuits, then it cannot only be seen as an effort to save a fictional character who can’t really die. And in that sense, fueling the fire is exactly the intention of the campaign. Thank you for the helpful thoughts, Robert.

Okay. I understand that but I still wonder why limit this just to J’Onn J’Onzz? Why not try to stop “approved violence” like X-Force, The Boys, Black Summer? I guess I question why it is just the single character over a series that may or may not kill the character as a plot device where we have other fiction out there that glorifies killing just to make a buck.

What I meant by fueling the fire was that if there are enough people who don’t want J’Onn J’Onzz dead then wouldn’t it be what DC would do just to get a response? Create a buzz.

Again I am just rambling. Good luck w/ the petition!
